A Woot Classic Moment
We’re too caught up in the frenzied celebration of our 10th birthday to write about today's product. Check out this refurbi- uh, classic write-up.
Optomacal Illusion (March 2007): Price club, shmice club. Some people like to flaunt their price club memberships as evidence of their infallible sense of frugality – nobody ever puts one over on them, no sir. And they’ll buy a year’s worth of toilet paper at a time, just to prove it.
But the Optoma HD32 720p Projector makes us a little skeptical. If these price-clubbers are so savvy, why didn’t they jump on this excellent projector the first time around? Here Optoma goes and makes this version of their much-loved HD70 projector just for the members of a certain price club that shall remain nameless, and the ingrates don’t even have the mental acuity to recognize it for the fantastic deal that it is.
Never mind – the price-clubbers’ loss is your gain. Thanks to their inattention and ignorance, now you get a shot at a native 720p high-definition DLP home theatre projector for less than a thousand bucks. Like, two hundred dollars less. The Optoma HD32 projects a mean image, with a 4000:1 contrast ratio, BrilliantColor color-processing technology, and a DarkChip2 processor for deep, dark blacks. The butterfly-quiet fan won’t drown out the sweet nothings being whispered up on the screen (or the explosions and gunfire, if that’s more to your taste). And yet, enough of these remained unsold for us to swoop in, snap them up, and sell them today. Madness, we tell you. Sheer madness.
Sorry, Price Club Nation. You had your chance. Now you’re out here with the rest of us on the other side of the velvet rope, jostling with the general public for the Optoma HD32. If you don’t manage to get ahold of one this time, either, well, tough luck. But at least we didn’t make you buy a membership.
